Seperated at Birth Political Edition

i *can't* be the only person who thinks that republican vice presidential candidate sarah palin looks just like tina fey right??

you be the judge:

incidentally i finally registered to vote last night. and just to clear up any confusion (not that there should be any) palin will NOT be on the ticket i will be voting for. now if tina fey were on a party ticket it'd be a totally different story.

summer breeze makes me feel fine

it's hot as hell today but the summer is basicly over and i never made it to the beach once. it feels like july and not september.
technically i have a few more weekends where i can feasibly go so maybe i can make it happen.

when i go down the shore i ALWAYS have to have some original bubble yum to chew while i'm on the beach.
the taste of bubble yum mixed with salt water *is* summer to me.

along with johnson's caramel corn, steel's fudge, cotton candy, funnel cake, mack and manco's pizza, boardwalk fries, kohr's custard, ice cream from springers and of course a fudgie wudgie...these are the tastes of the season. i'm hungry just thinking about it.

007 is packin...a 6 pack that is (or old guys who used to be really hot )

did you know that sean connery put in a bid to be mr. universe back in the 50s??
i can certainly see why.
(and is it just me or what but doesn't he sorta kinda look like morrissey in this picture??)

Photobucket

they sure don't make em like they used to huh? there will only ever be one james bond as far as i'm concerned.

san dimas high school football RULZ!

i went to movie night at the troc on monday for a screening of bill and ted's excellent adventure.

Photobucket

it's just as classic as i remembered it being. and keanu was just as cute as i remember-forever making his starring spot pinup (from some teenybopper magazine or other naturally) on the inside of my high school locker completely timelessly worthy.

a few things i noticed while watching the movie that i hadn't realized before:

1. the tributary move in the future is really just a pete townsend windmill slowed waaaay down.

2.the movie takes place in 1988. their time machine from the future brought unto them by rufus is from the year 2688. it's a phone booth.in the present time only 20 years in the future from 1988 we really don't even have phone booths anymore. which means if i ever have children or grandchildren i'm going to have to explain to them what the hell a phone booth is. ( incidentally the same can be said if we wind up watching any old superman movies.)

3. the time travelling phone booth they use is quite a bit like what dr. who uses to travel in time...

4. jane wiedlin of the go-go's played joan of arc in the movie. i forgot she never had a single line in english.
she was totally one of my guitar heroes when i was younger.
(she was WAYYY cooler than belinda).
and speaking of...remember her big solo hit "rush hour"? it was a pretty big one hit wonder back in the day.

5.i never realized how much my friend devin looks like alex winter. you can't quite get the full idea of it from these pictures but trust me he really does...which is funny because i used to think that devin looked like andrew mccarthy in mannequinn.

the whole thing kinda comes around full circle...george carlin is in bill and ted's excellent adventure as rufus. the first time i think i saw george carlin's stand-up comedy was with devin while staying up all night at his parents' house watching hbo after being his date to his sister's wedding. good times good times...

gold diggers

so i've been watching the olympics and i have to admit it's actually really entertaining/exciting this year.i even yelled at my tv out loud a couple of times just like my dad does when he's watching football.

i know everyone is all super hyped about michael phelps. and they should be-the guy is amazing! however i'm fairly certain he's the product of some kind of genetic experiment in which his mother mated with a marlin or something. Some ichthyologists need to get together with fox mulder and start studying this man.

the swimmer who gets the gold for being a stone cold fox however is ryan lochte. have you seen this guy?
Photobucket

other amusements mid-olympics:
during one of the swim meets: a swimmer named tancock competed with a swimmer named beavers.
one of the trampoline athletes was named dong dong (nevermind the fact that trampoline is an actual olympic sport?!).that's right-first name dong.last name dong. possible relation to long duck dong?

somehow despite the cheating chinese team (CLEARLY underage!!) and the obviously biased votes and the ridiculous new scoring system, nastia liukin (i could go on for hours on how bad i feel for a girl whose parents actually named her nastia) of the us women's gymnastics team took home the gold. that reminded me of the chemical brothers video for "elektrobank".directed by spike jonze starring his then-wife sofia coppola.

i wonder why none of the girls competing in the olympics actually have decent songs they use for the floor exercises.or even if not *decent* songs then at least modern songs or songs that maybe they would listen to in their personal lives. i'd be interested to see the choreography to something other than random classical music.

also in honor of the olympics i thought i'd just rehash one of my favorite youtube videos.
the hipster olympics.

the first time i saw this was after a hangover standing outside sunglasses on smoking a cigarette with unwashed hair. i looked like i could have been in it.

Decapitation's the latest craze

The Canadian Bus Attack:

I'm sure you have heard about it by now.and I'm pretty sure this is the craziest/most fascinating thing I have ever heard of in my entire life. You would *think* it's from a rob zombie movie not yet in production but nope! this is real life!!this REALLY happened! i mean jesus.this shit is crazy.

http://www.goupstate.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080805/API/808051029&title=Canada_bus_beheading_suspect_says__please_kill_me_&template=printpicart

The police scanner tapes:

AND if that weren't enough-same week on another continent: a man in Greece decapitates his girlfriend and parades around town with her head on a stick.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7539944.stm

Seriously...what the fuck is going on in society these days?????
I know I'm at least a week late in blogging about this but I've been doing research...and also i've been busy trying not to get decapitated.

You would think all this clearly equals a slew of new "true story" horror flicks about decapitation but the stories are actually too short to flesh out a suitable feature length plot which most likely means there will still be horror flicks loosely based on these current events only with a whole lot of made up backstory. I think I will just wait for the book.

I have soooo many questions on all this.

I want to know if there were any children on the bus witnessing it.I mean can you imagine the psychological damage inflicted by this? I mean I'm certain all the adult passengers are no doubt scarred for life but I can't imagine what this would do to a small child having to see this.

Why were the police referring to the killer as "Badger"? Who came up with that? The killer was a 6' tall Chinese man...

Paranoid schizophrenia, drugs, pure evil? What's the motive? and why *that* kid-there were 36 other passengers onboard afterall. Did "badger" just not like what the kid was playing on the his headphones?

After the attack how did the rest of the passengers even get home or to their destinations? You can bet they didn't want to get on another bus...
