why do the walkmen suck....

when jonathan fire*eater were sooooooooooo effing goooooood???!?!?!???!??!?!?!!?

i saw that the walkmen are playing here this week and i know everyone loves them. everyone but me anyway-i guess i'm still stuck in the past.sigh.
i decided to listen to some jf*e while i was getting ready last night.so cool, so smooth, so sexy.i wish i could have gotten to see them when they still existed. actually i just wish they never broke up.

stuart lupton started a new band- the childballads- recently but i haven't heard much yet.
here's a somewhat recent performance of them doing a jf*e song "no love like that"

here's the kills doing a cover of my favorite jonathan fire*eater song "the search for cherry red"

le sigh.....

i like them both and honestly the biggest difference between the two is the singer. they both have thi like them both and honestly the ose loud drums and big guitar sound. i can see if you're not into the yelp of the walkmen's singer though. i hadn't heard of jf*e until i got into the walkmen though, so i can see how you'd make a negative comparison. "everyone who pretended to like me is gone" and "bows + arrows" are pretty soild if you strip away any lingering feelings you have for jf*e. i wasn't a fan of "a hundred miles off" and haven't heard the new one. i'm indifferent to their cover of that harry nilsson album, but i like some of nilsson's songs and thought it was a good experiment.
