i wonder if people with foot fetishes listen to shoegaze? (a video playlist)

not too long ago i tried to explain what shoegaze music meant to a friend. every band i could come up with she had only possibly heard of but never actually heard and the more mainstream bands i could mention that have shoegazey songs she hadn't heard those songs.

well i'm in a shoegaze mood today and winter is sort of the perfect season to listen to it for whatever reason. i think it has to do with the one time i went for a walk in the snow and my my bloody valentine tape seemed to suddenly synch up perfectly with the falling snowflakes. and for that reason i will include lots of mbv in this post.

my bloody valentine-"drive it all over me"

i saw my bloody valentine in nyc back in september and although i could barely actually *see* anything at all (it really sucks being short at concerts sometimes) it was one of the best shows of my life.i found videos of soon and only shallow from the show i was at. this was pretty much the view/sound from anywhere in the venue (unless you were five feet from the stage)

my bloody valentine-"soon"

my bloody valentine-"only shallow"

the telescopes-"everso"

lush-"sweetness & light"

my bloody valentine-"you made me realise"

the verve-"blue"

house of love-"christine"

my bloody valentine-"feed me with your kiss"

cocteau twins-"lorelai"

ride-"like a daydream"

chapterhouse- "pearl"

black tambourine-"throw aggi off the bridge"

brian jonestown massacre-"hide & seek"

medicine-"5ive"

catherine wheel-"i want to touch you"/"show me mary"

swervedriver-"girl on a motorbike"

slowdive-"when the sun hits"

moose-"jack

kitchens of distinction-"margaret's injection"

the ocean blue-"between something and nothing"
(believe it or not this band is actually from hershey pennsylvania?!?!?! i also wanted to include a track off of the lilys first album who are philly-grown but unfortunately couldn't find anything on youtube. listen to "there's no such thing as black orchids" if you can find it)

spectrum-"how you satisfy me"
if i were going to be that pretentious about it spectrum usually generally falls under spacerock but i would consider a lot of spacerock, britpop and postpunk to cross germinate with shoegaze.

the darkside-"waiting for the angels"

triumph 2000-"out there"

galaxie 500-"fourth of july"

jesus & mary chain-"some candy talking"

primal scream-"ivy ivy ivy"

boo radleys-"does this hurt?"

the nightblooms-"blue marbles"

ecstasy of st. theresa-"fluidium"

bailter space-"robot world"

blur-"i know"

drop nineteens-"winona"

1. I don't know how to turn off your profile song, so it's hard to listen to these while your song is playing.

2. I opened them in new windows and after much listening have decided that if you only listen for shoegaze for the first time when you are pushing 30 and no emotional attachments, it's kind of boring.

3. Don't hate me.

oh jamie, i could never hate you.i mean we can't have *everything* in common-the world just couldn't handle something like that.

i guess the power of shoegaze got to me early enough on and you're just too jaded for the grand majestic beauty that is shoegaze ;P

but seriously i didn't think you would necessarily be into it but at least you know what i'm talkin bout now willis.
